Hypnotherapy for pain in Washington State

A Registered Hypnotherapist with the Washington State Department of Health (#HYPN.HP.70073119), working with pain clients from Seattle to Spokane — online, so a bad pain day never costs you the appointment.

Registered here, working everywhere in the state

Washington is one of the states that formally registers hypnotherapists, which means there is a credential to check rather than a certificate anyone can print. Mine is #HYPN.HP.70073119, held with the Department of Health, and you can verify it through the Department's provider credential search.

I hold a Master's degree in psychology and spent more than a decade in Washington mental health settings — as a psychotherapist, youth counsellor, case manager and social work professional — before focusing on clinical hypnotherapy.

Why online is better for pain, not a compromise

People sometimes assume a video session is the lesser option. For pain work specifically, the opposite is usually true.

  • You are not commuting on a flare day. Sitting in I-5 traffic for forty minutes with an angry lower back is a genuinely poor start to a session about your lower back.
  • You practise where you live. The state we build is one you need at 3am in your own bed, not in an unfamiliar consulting room.
  • Your eyes are closed for most of it. Of all the things that lose something over video, hypnosis loses the least.
  • Bellingham and Walla Walla get the same access as Capitol Hill. Specialist pain support outside the I-5 corridor is thin, and this removes the geography problem entirely.

The Pacific Northwest pain picture

A few patterns come up often enough here to be worth naming. Long dark winters that do low-grade harm to sleep, mood and pain thresholds all at once. A tech workforce with a great deal of neck, shoulder and upper back pain from years at a desk. An outdoors culture that produces excellent knee, back and shoulder injuries — and a strong reluctance to stop doing the thing that caused them. And a real regional preference for approaches that are not simply another prescription.

If you have already been through physical therapy, tried the pain clinic, and come away with the impression that the system has run out of ideas for you, that is the point where most of my Washington clients get in touch.

Questions

Washington clients ask

Do you have a physical office in Seattle?

My pain practice runs online by secure video, which means you are not spending forty minutes in traffic on a day your back is bad — and you get to practise the relaxed state in the room where you will actually need it. Clients across Washington work with me this way.

Is hypnotherapy regulated in Washington State?

Yes. Washington is one of the states that registers hypnotherapists through the Department of Health. My registration number is HYPN.HP.70073119 and you are welcome to verify it through the Department's provider credential search.

Can you help if I am on L&I or a workers' compensation claim?

I can work with you privately, but I am not a contracted L&I provider and I do not bill workers' compensation. Talk to your claim manager about what your plan covers before assuming reimbursement.

Which parts of Washington do you cover?

All of it. Seattle, Bellevue, Redmond, Kirkland, Everett, Tacoma, Olympia, Vancouver, Bellingham, Spokane, Yakima, the Tri-Cities and everywhere between. Sessions are online, so rural and eastern Washington are as easy as downtown Seattle.
